From Skokie Police (Skokie Public Safety Bulletin) ...
On Thursday, December 5, 2013, at 11:05 a.m. Skokie Police Officers responded to a traffic crash at 3850 Dempster, Skokie, IL.
The incident was a single vehicle, single occupant crash resulting in the fatality of the driver. The vehicle, a black 1996 Ford Mustang coupe, traveling westbound on Dempster Street, left the roadway and struck a tree on the parkway in front of 3850 Dempster. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and the vehicle’s air bag was deployed.
At this time the driver is only being identified as a 23 year old male residing in Chicago. Further driver information is pending notification of next of kin. It is unknown at this time if drugs or alcohol is a contributing factor in this crash.
The incident is currently being investigated by the North Regional Major Crime Task Force Major Crash Assistance Team, (N.O.R.T.A.F.-M.C.A.T.), and the road is anticipated to be closed for at least the next 4 hours.
