UPDATE FROM CARPENTERSVILLE PUBLIC SAFETY ...
"Shortly after 10:00 am this morning, the Carpentersville Fire and Police Departments responded to a 9-1-1 emergency call of a possible drowning in the Fox River, near Angelina Place.

Preliminary information suggests that three adult male subjects, all of whom were friends, were visiting the river for a day of fishing and recreation. Two of the subjects spoke of swimming across the river and shortly before 10:00 am, the pair entered the water and began their swim. The stronger swimmer reported that he quickly became exhausted in the heavy current and upon looking back to check on his companion, he saw the friend in distress. The stronger swimmer was able to reach a nearby island where he was subsequently rescued by Carpentersville Fire Department personnel. The friend was last seen in the water south of Angelina Place.

Carpentersville Fire Department personnel summoned additional water rescue and recover resources from MABAS Divisions 2, 4, and 5, to include rescue divers and side scanning sonar equipment. As of the time of this release, rescue personnel continue to work on locating the missing subject.

No foul play is suspected at this time. No additional information will be released. Investigation into this matter continues."
