Report of two bicyclists hit by a vehicle.

Husband and wife Mark Wendling and Janice Wendling of Morris were hit by a vehicle while riding their bicycles westbound on Old Stage Road.  The couple was hit from behind by a 16-year-old driver. Grundy County Coroner John Callahan reported that both crash victims were wearing bicycle helmets.

Mark Wendling died at the scene.

A medical transport helicopter requested to the scene. Janice Wendling was airlifted from the scene and transported to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove, where she was pronounced dead at 8:32 p.m.

The 16-year-old Morris resident was issued a citation for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
