    Small gas explosions near State St and Madison St and near State St and Randolph St.

    BC2 (Battalion Chief 2) requests 5-1-1 meet BC2 at Randolph and State.

    BC2  reports they are investigating a series of small gas explosions in the streets of small 4-inch gas company covers. Also a small gas explosion at an excavation at State St and Randolph St by 12:51 pm.

    Some streets closed in the area.

    2-2-1 reports by 1:22 pm that a vacated gas line -- vacated about 5 years ago -- contains backed up residual gas in the main. No significant gas readings. Gas meter readings are below LEL (Lower Explosive Limit) at street level.

    Peoples gas is on the scene and is expected to be opening up the main to let residual gas out.

    Old Navy incident (E18/A66 on an EMS call) is unrelated to the gas explosion/gas leak incident (150 North State St at 1:34 pm).

    BC2 reports one 2 1/2-inch charged line led out from E13 by 1:35 pm for standby.

    BC2 reports metering buildings for gas levels by 1:35 pm.

    BC2 reports T6 assigned to check a patient at Old Navy by 1:36 pm (unrelated to gas incident).

    BC2 report gas company is expected to grind down a 'T'

    2-2-1 requests a Level 1 Hazmat with an extra truck and an extra engine by 1:41 pm.

    SQD1 assigned to Washington and State.

    A41 assigned to State and Randolph by 1:48 pm.

    Crews making entry underground by 2:32 pm; companies standing by.

    Gas company is working on the line, all companies standing by, and 100 ppm CO detected.

    Rehab setup by 2:46 pm.

    LEVEL 2 HAZMAT by 2:10 pm

    Holding up the DE-CON truck by 2:13 pm.

    2-1-22 reports the gas is starting to dissipate and readings are down to zero at 4:07 pm.

    WIND E 12 G16 at 4:13 pm.
